At the beginning of this module we explained that there are numerous models of Emotional Intelligence, and that we prefer to use the trait model. Remember the trait model says that emotionally intelligent behaviour is primarily an expression of our personality traits.
We use a personality test that assesses people on 32 dimensions. There are both productive (high EQ) and counterproductive (low EQ) behaviours associated with each trait.
We use this test simply because it is the most widely researched personality test available, and also over the 30 years in which we have used it, it has proven itself over and over again.
Let’s have a look at the dimensions we assess. We divide our test into those traits that pertain to:
